Description
Rhus virens has been growing across the American Southwest for a long time. People have known what to do with it for just as long.
Our Evergreen Sumac is hand-harvested from mature leaves and berry clusters in small rotational cycles — never stripped, never bulk-processed. Seeds go back into the ground after harvest. The plant stays. The land stays healthy.
The research on sumac species points to a strong polyphenol and flavonoid profile — quercetin, gallic acid, natural tannins — compounds tied to antioxidant activity, digestive support, and inflammatory balance.
The infusion brews bright and ruby-toned with a natural citrus tartness and a light astringent finish. Clean and grounding. Good on its own or as part of a daily ritual. For something closer to a traditional preparation, try a cool water infusion for a few hours — it drinks like a wild lemonade.
Brew 0.5–1g per cup. Steep 5–7 minutes in hot, not boiling, water.
Every purchase supports native seed replanting and habitat restoration. Small batch & harvested with intention.
Drink wild. Stay rooted.
